Gainesville, FL
We'd been to Florida before, but we were STOKED for our first time in Gainesville. The Gator Skateboarding Club at local University of Florida, along with skaters from other universities all over Florida, made it a huge success!
Skaters showed up from UCF (Orlando), USF (Tampa), Eastern Florida State College (Melbourne), University of Florida, and Santa Fe College (also Gainesville).
FreeRide Surf & Skate Shop made for a great local venue, having parking lot space for the Insta Ramp and the beautiful mural in the background of the ramp jams!
We had free pizza and Rockstar Energy for the crowd, as well as great raffles for the public! Some very lucky people walked away with a signed Rodney Mullen deck, a signed Jamie Thomas deck, money to Burrito Bros, and product from Bones Wheels, Herschel Supply Co., & Etnies.
As usual, we ran a jam-format contest (4-man, 5-minute heats) and ended up with a final heat. Final results came out to:
1st - Clay Helms - UF
2nd - Brandon Cole - UF
3rd - Chris Hatten - EFSC
4th - Marlee Miller - USF
5th - Austin Massey - Santa Fe
Our Open Best Trick Contest also went off! Winners were:
